Stayok are a major hostel chain in the Netherlands, and we have been very imrpressed with them. Our first stop is the one at Noordwijk. It was our favourite on the ride last year.

A very pleasant cafe in the dunes near Katwijk
I am conscious that this travelogue could easily turn out to be a series of photos of bars and cafes where we have stopped to indulge ourselves! However, do not dispair… we will throw in the occasional photo of a windmill as well to keep you all on the edge of your seats!

Our first day started off somewhat overcast and rainy, but soon warmed and brightened up. Most of this leg was spent travelling through the sand dunes on the LF1 coastal path amid very attractive scenery.

The dutch grow some strange looking mushrooms. They are large and square looking, and far too tough to eat. I’m not sure how you would get one into a wok to stir fry it either…..
